THE GRAVESTONES

The Stele - an upright stone with the funerary inscription of the Lady d’Haupoul. This inscription, which has many, possibly too many, mistakes provide an exact anagram of the message decoded from one of the parchments.

The Dalle - a horizontal slab engraved with the motto ET IN ARCADIA EGO and said to have been brought from the tomb at Les Pontils, near Arques, and known as the tomb of Arques, to be laid on top of the grave of Lady d’Haupoul.

Many researchers find geometric pointers to nearby landscape features on these stones.
